Victorian Club Permit Scheme

Keep your classic vehicle on the road through the MCCA and VicRoads Club Permit Scheme.

The information below outlines the guidelines and requirements for joining and participating in the Mazda Car Club of Australia (The MCCA) in Victoria and taking advantage of the VicRoads Club Permit Scheme for classic vehicles.

1. Eligibility

  • Your vehicle must be over 25 years old, regardless of whether it's a Mazda or not.
  • To apply for a club permit through The MCCA, you must be a current financial member of the club.

2. New Application Requirements

You'll need to provide the following for your club permit application:

  • An administrative fee of $50 is required for this service.
  • The club scrutineer must inspect the vehicle and take photos for VicRoads' record-keeping requirements.
  • Proof of ownership.
  • Completed Club Permit Induction form.
  • Completed Vehicle Eligibility and Standards Declaration for Club Permit Vehicles form.
  • Completed Club Permit Application form.
  • Current Victorian Roadworthy Certificate (RWC) or Vehicle Assessment Signatory Scheme (VASS) certificate for modified vehicles.

3. Membership Requirement

You must be a current financial member of The Mazda Car Club Of Australia. To check your status, please log into the Mazda Car Club Website where you can also renew an expired membership.

4. Club Registration Renewals

  • You'll need to sign a Renewal Club Registration form for renewals.
  • Renewals are preferred to be signed at a Mazda Car Club Event (unless otherwise organised with a scrutineer).
  • Renewals require a $50 fee per car, which can be waived if you have attended 3 club events during the year.

5. General Club Permit Rules

  • Display the issued number plate(s) and windscreen label as required by VicRoads.
  • Carry the logbook and permit in the vehicle at all times during use.
  • Maintain continuous financial membership with the club while holding a club permit.
  • Present their vehicle for periodic safety checks as prescribed by the club.
  • Maintain their vehicles in a safe condition for highway use.
  • Comply with logbook requirements.
  • Familiarize themselves with their specific club's requirements for permit holders.
  • Club permit holders must ensure their vehicles are only used for private, non-commercial purposes.

6. Interstate Use

  • Victorian club permit vehicles cannot be used on Western Australian roads and require a separate permit if participating in outings there.
  • Club permit vehicles may be driven throughout all Australian States and Territories (except Western Australia) if they comply with Victorian club permit requirements.
